Korea Ranks 115th in Gender Equality Report

One of the reasons why people study Korean at KCC is because they want to work in Korea. However, it is troubling to learn that Korean female citizens have to endure worse pay and working conditions than their male counterparts. According to The Korea Times, the country is below the world average of 0.632 with regards to gender equality:

According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2018 released by the World Economy Forum (WEF), Tuesday, Korea ranked 115 among 149 countries on gender equality. This is an improvement of just three places compared to last year.
Philippines, on the other hand, ranks 8th in the same 2018 report.

One must weigh one's options carefully. Will moving to Korea be an advantage financially? Or, will being in Korea and experiencing the language and culture firsthand outweigh all other considerations? Depending on one's personal reasons, the decision can go either way.
