I was only made aware recently that the Korean language can now be studied by Philippine high school students, joining the ranks of Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese (Nihongo), German, French and Spanish as an option in the Special Program in Foreign Languages. As expected, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines or KCC will be at the forefront of providing support for this endeavor.
The Philippine Primer reports that, as of the moment, only ten high schools in the National Capital Region are enjoying the option of having the Korean language as part of the Special Program in Foreign Languages.
The Department of Education in the Philippines or DepEd and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea signed the Memorandum of Agreement last 21 June 2017.
