If it weren't for Choi Jin Hyuk (Tunnel, Emergency Couple, The Heirs), I would have probably ignored this Kdrama because of its uninteresting synopsis. So, if you're still wondering whether to give Devilish Joy (aka Devilish Charm) a shot, here's a more romantic spin to the story:
One fateful day, chaebol and neurologist Gong Ma Seong (played by Choi Jin Hyuk) meets popular actress Ju Gi Ppeum (played by Song Ha Yoon). They immediately fall in love. After sharing a soulful kiss, they both promise to meet again that same night. However, the two lovers can't keep their promise. That night, Gong Ma Seong suffers a vehicular accident that leaves him almost dead, while Ju Gi Ppeum wakes up the next day to find herself accused of murder.
Three years later, the two lovers meet again, but, this time, Gong Ma Seong has no recollection of that fateful day. Due to his accident, he now suffers from a Cinderella memory disorder, which erases his memories of the past twenty-four (24) hours whenever he goes to sleep. And, even though Ju Gi Ppeum was found innocent of the murder charge, she struggles to eke out a living after becoming a pariah in the entertainment industry.
Hurt with Gong Ma Seong's dismissal, Ju Gi Ppeum resolves to forget him, but, he instinctively keeps seeking her out. Despite the circumstances, will Gong Ma Seong and Ju Gi Ppeum fall in love again?
Note: I kept searching for the Cinderella memory disorder, which was mentioned in the original synopsis, but, unfortunately, I can't find any reference to it. The only thing that kept popping up was the Cinderella complex, which was another thing altogether. So, the Cinderella memory disorder was probably created for the drama.
